Whatever you do don’t do it!
I’m a natural dark blonde and a few years back I thought it would be fun to dye my hair really dark. I did and I loved it but maintaining the roots was hell – I got dark roots when i was doing highlights as a blonde as well but a bit of re-growth then just looks cool – a bit of lighter regrowth when you’ve dyed your hair just makes you look balde. Nasty, nasty.
After a year or so of struggling with the re-growth I started missing being blonde and decided to go back. Re-growth issues as it turned out was NOTHING compared to ruining my hair by bleaching it back. I couldn’t do it all in one go or it would fall out so i had to take it in steps, meaning i absolutely hated my hair colour for about two years afterwards, as well as the quality being completely ruined.
My advice: brunettes who want to go blonde – go for it! Change is fun and it’s not too difficult to go back.
Blondes who want to go dark – change is as I said fun but DO NOT go more than a few shades darker (think caramel). You may love it at first (I did) but will most definitely end up regretting it.
