IN SWEDEN THE 24th is the big day during Christmas. Here in Amercia we celebrate today, on the 25th. So, I get two Christmas! Now were gonna start cooking some food for friends that are coming over this afternoon. Hope you enjoy your Christmas. And again, during this time of the year, I think a lot of pepole who are alone or have issues at home, I know there are so many. Like I wrote last year:
Merry christmas! I hope you all will have a lovely day! Luckily I’m one of them who has a family, and actually enjoy this time of the year, and I’m very thankful for that. Christmas is amazing, but I know it’s also a horrible time for many people. Sorry if I’m ruin the christmas-lovely-feeling :). I just don’t want anyone of you readers to think, that you are alone to not have the perfect day, if you don’t. I don’t want you to browse all your favorite-blogs and read about how AMAZING everything is, and feel that you are the only one who’s not having this perfect day, with the perfect gifts, you are not. Remember that it’s so easy to run a blog and to only show the “perfect world”.
There is something with Christmas. Everything is so “perfect”. And as I wrote last year, I’m really one of them who loves this time of the year. Even if I havent always been like that. Well, I could continue for ever… If you want to share anything here. Just whatever you feel like. Please do. I will of course read all the comments.

Fint skrivet av dig. Speciellt i dessa tider måste det vara extra svårt för dom som är ensamma och med sämre förutsättningar. Hjälp mig gärna att hjälpa andra kvinnor. Jag försöker tänka att även det lilla man gör och kan göra, måste tillföra något bra för någon där ute. Ibland blir man så uppgiven när man tänker på hur jobbigt vissa har det. Keep the spirit.

Min jul har i år varit väldigt alternativ. Efter en extremt stressig jobbhöst (och värre blir det efter nyår) valde jag att stanna hemma och bara ta det lugnt. Jättetråkigt att missa det stora firandet hos mina svärföräldrar, men ack så välbehövligt. För min del var det alltså självvalt att vara ensam, men jag har ändå fått känna på hur det är att vara ensam när “alla” andra har någonstans att vara. Det är nog inte alls så kul för dom som faktiskt inte har någonstans att gå. Ingen borde behöva vara ofrivilligt ensam.

I really like that you are thinking about the people who don’t have a perfect Christmas. Most of the blogs I am reading are just showing pictures of themselfes having a perfect and happy Christmas. But not everyone is blessed with that.

Elin! You are right some people have it difficult and it’s very real of you to mention that. Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy holiday. Although I am not in this position I think that people, who don´t have anyone to spend the Chrismtas Days with can really fell a bit better when even having a person like you informing them about their life and letting them get a part of it. I think you do a nice job with being a person to look up to and a insparation for a lot of people out there. Although you are a person of publicity and you are definitly living a different lifestyle than others you haven´t lost your sence of reality an that makes you very likeable. Keep it up !!!. I love to spend christmas time with my own family, unfortunately not everybody does.
My last cheerful Christmas was when I was about eight- for now there is always my family, delicious food, gifts, x-mas tree, snow, but also stress, rush and quarrels.
I hope that there will be one day when all of my family’s members have one goal- to focuse how great our life is and how fortunate is to have all of these blessings we do have.

Har alltid vært en av de som har elsket julen, men etterhvert som moren min har fått et større og større alkoholproblem så har de to siste årene vært ganske tunge og har følt meg veldig alene og uelsket. Håper på bedre tider og misunner alle som har en ordentlig god jul med familie og venner. Xxx

Your words are so true! Christmas is a chance to be together with family and friends, have nice food and laughter.
I love christmas because of this. Everyone makes an extra effort to be together and to be there for each other. Alias, in the most lucky cases.
Unfortunately it is also the day my father died a couple of years ago. It makes it more difficult to enjoy ‘family-time’ ’cause we all miss him like crazy…
But. We know for sure that he wanted us to have the best time at christmas and therefore we take our time to recall funny stories about him and all the positive memories.
So, in a way, it’s a crappy day but also a day with lots of laughter and fun.
I wish you and your family and friends all the best.

Tack för att du skriver det, det är skönt när någon, särskillt som känner sig lyckligt lottad själv, säger det. Jag kan inte åka hem till min släkt i Värmland på grund av många familjeproblem, men har turen att få fira med min killes fina släkt. Dock är det ALLTID jobbigt att alla ifrågasätter varför jag inte åker hem till mysiga, snöiga Värmland, och har en riktig Ernst Kirchsteiger jul. Man får bara inte ogilla jul i det här landet. Tack för att du sprider en öppnare attityd! Och alltid så snygg med, som bonus! God jul!
I find it a very beautiful sign that you show compassion to the people who don’t experience Christmas like the media sets it down.
Christmas hasn’t been super happy and amazing this year under the circumstances but I don’t wanna complain, knowing that there are people out there under circumstances that are nothing in comparison to what has happend to my family.

Min jul har tyvärr inte varit så bra pga familjeproblem och utfrysning. Förut så älskade jag julen mer en allt annat i världen, men enda sedan min Pappa, Farmor Farfar & Faster gick bort så har julen inte varit detsamma, det blev inte bättre när min moster träffade en ny man som förändrade både henne och resten ut av min släkt på mammmas sida.

Din text fick mig verkligen att må lite bättre. Flyttade hemifrån till new york för ett tag sedan och har känt mig väldigt ensam denna julen. Jag absolut älskar att bo här men under dessa dagarna har Sverige och familjen varit det enda jag tänkt på. Känns hemskt att tycka det är skönt att julen är över när jag annars älskar den.

Hej Elin! Fina ord du skrev och jag beundrar dig för det. Jag bor i Budapest och åt en en fantastiskt fin brunch på stans lyxigaste hotel med våra närmsta vänner igår. Vi var alla proppmätte efteråt och ändå fanns det hur mycket mat som helst kvar på alla serveringsfat. Efter bara några minuter som vi har hoppat in i bilen på väg hem reagerar jag på att det är en ca 200m lång kö på trottoaren. Hundratals personer trängs i vinterkylan och då inser jag att dom alla väntar på att möjligtvis få chansen att bli serverad lite julmat från en organisation som hjälpar fattiga och hemlösa. Då mådde jag nästan illa. Hur är det möjligt att vissa personer har förmånen att äta sig äckligt mätta och andra har ingen att fira jul med eller inte ens någon mat på bordet!? Jag vet inte riktigt vad min poäng är med detta med det grep verkligen tag i mig! Stor kram och jag önskar dig en god fortsättning.

Jag känner som du, att julen handlar om en känsla av glädje. Vi har i många år stressat runt mellan våra familjer, firar vart annat år mm. I år bad jag alla komma till oss, inkl en vän som var själv med sina barn. Vi hade knytis. Det var uppskattat av alla och väldigt mysigt. Ingen stressade med massa mat, ingen satt hemma ensam bara för att det i år inte var “deras” år. Mina barn njöt över att ha alla sina kära hos sig på en gång. Plus att vi fick fler barn att fira med. Det är inte så farligt att bryta traditioner. Faktiskt väldigt mysigt.
God fortsättning! Jag är så glad för din skull för dina framgångar. Alltid spännande att höra om dina nya projekt.

I am Polish and Christmas Eve especially is so so important but now I live in New York for a few good years and see all “faces” of Christmas, and I try to go along with the flow.
