As you now I’ve been looking for a replacement for my lovely, lovely Celine that I’ve been wearing more or less every day since 2-3 years back. And I will still keep my Celine, it’s just that I need a back up, since that poor thing is more or less falling apart. The only thing is that it’s more fun to buy something different, but, I know that in the end of the day I need a black classic bag. So, my question to you is. Should I go for this one above, from Saint Laurent (in black I guess), that I think is a PERFECT replacement for my Celine. Or, am I boring? Should I go for something totally else… Can’t make up my mind… HEADACHE!

I don’t think it’s boring, but it’s always nice with some colores in the spring time. But it’s never wrong with a basic bag and the Saint Laurent is to die for!!

I think, you should go for it! If you are looking for something that will serve the same purpose as the Celine bag, you obviously already know what you like. It’s a timeless bag :)
For this type of shape, I prefer the Balenciaga A4 as the leather is fantastic and there are a lot of dark, rich neutrals to pick from as well as black.
Let me start by saying that I couldn’t agree more about buying, or should I say investing in, a classic black bag.
Recently I finally found mine: the Chanel executive tote. Being a student, the price scared me at first (to say the least…), but it already proved to be worth every single penny. My sister carries the Mulberry Bayswater (which is in my opinion also a great option) for years now; every single day and almost at every occasion. I am convinced it is worth the price, the wait, the hunt and the love for a classic black bag after finally finding it.
Therefore, although I love the Saint Laurent, my advice to you is: in case of doubt; don’t do it. Look for a bag that makes your heart skip a beat!

What is there to wonder about? It’s black, it’s simple, it’s leather, it’s suede, it’s big, it seems solid, it fits every possible outfit, again it’s black… Classic is never booring :)

to be completely honest this one doesnt impress me that much. It’s pretty nice but comparing to celine it just lacks of a character. I think f.ex phillip lim’s 31 hour bag is really beautiful every-day bag, not the mention whole spectrum of celine’s bags…You can always go for another, different one, hey ? That bag is GORGEOUS, yet in my opinion it is not very “convenient” as an everyday bag, since there is neither a zipper nor pocket inside, just that pouch. Buuuut the prettyness of the bag makes up for those “flaws” :))

I think you should go for something different, something you didn’t have before with colours! Black is a bit boring actually! For example i know there is a celine bag with black, beige and brown colours in it, perhaps you know which i mean? It’s still basic colours which you can easily mix with something else! Good luck! =)

Hi Elin, I do love the YSL bag, not too boring, and black is perfect. However, I never feel like suede is as good as leather for everyday — harder to clean, and more easily damaged in rain. My opinion, but something you may want to consider. Love!

I’ve had a YSL black leather reversible for YEARS. the inside is bronze, which is great in summer, because I don’t like a black bag in the summer. It had NO pockets, which was a pain, but it was great for travel, kids and every day kicking around. It is starting to fall apart now, this looks like a good replacement for our upcoming winter. So I say go for it. How can it possibly not work? x…ahhh hello? I just realised this is the replacement reversible. well I’m getting it !! ;-)

It is a great bag honestly, but it looks horrible to carry around with you!! The straps really cut in your shoulders.. If I were you, I would choose something that lightens up your every outfit, because the case is you WILL carry it alot with you.

YES i think it is a perfect bag, but more important a very “handy & clever” bag!
There’s one downside, namely its texture (suede) if it is a bag that you want to use every day, black suede will show off its weak spots (in case it is just a back up then.. never mind ;)). Overall it is without a doubt a keeper.

This bag is simple and versatile, I’m personally a ‘black’ girl because it makes life easier. In my opinion, you should take it and also buy a smaller ‘fun’ bag that you could pull up when skies are looking gray :)
**Also if you planning on carrying a heavy load then maybe opt for a style with sturdier handles that will last you longer :)

I would go for the Balenciaga Papier in Black. It looks great almost empty or totally full, the quality of the leather is fantastic and it goes with every outfit!

Can you do without this bag? Yes, and you know it. The Celine bag is our signature bag. If the old one is falling apart – buy a new one. And of course play with other bags, continue buying other bags, but not lookalikes to this Celine one. This is the one and only. It surprises me that other bags with their own trademarks tries to copy Celine. The Celine is a great bag-maker and you chose the very best of the collection. Keep on steady!

Yes, the bag is boring. (Sorry) I like the simplicity of the design, but it needs some small (nothing elaborate or dramatic) detail that will make it elegant.
