White Gallery

17/12/2012, Elin Kling for GUESS by Marciano

I JUST HAVE TO post some pics from the launch of my collection in Rome. Since the department store White Gallery bought the collection we also decided to celebrate this with them. I was so impressed by this cool building. 5 000 square meters, with brands like Balmain, Prada, Mugler etc etc. And in the middle of this HUGE space, in the beautiful hall covered in marmor, I found MY collection! It was amazing to see it in company with the other brands. Unreal I have to say. And the collection looked so good. Wish I had more pictures, but here are at least some. The gentlemen I’m standing next to is the swimmer and olympic winner Massimiliano Rosolino, hehe. I’m wearing my “singoalla-top” that comes in both white and black.

Bustier

ONE OF THE most comment question I get when I do interviews for my collection for GUESS by Marciano is ” Where did you find inspiration from”.  Since GUESS also turned 30 years 2012, they used Claudia Schiffer during spring to show the iconic part, and then for fall, and for GUESS by Marciano, they used me and my collection. To show where they are going next. I asked Paul Marciano, to go through the archive with me on our second meeting, and tell med his story from this 30 years. And trust me, he did. I think he showed me, and explained every single campaign. And this moment were so inspiring, and fun. We both stopped at the same pictures, over and over again. Also talked about surrtent fabrics etc that we both liked. So after that meeting I decided to actually make a collection, based on the history of GUESS. To find iconic pieces, like the bustier. But design it to how I would wear it today, 2012. Well, here is an example of that. I made this little knitted bustier, and a skirt. The knit is really beautiful I think. And it’s also pretty “heavy”, to give you a fitted look at the same time!

FINALLY THIS DRESS got some attention! Found this image in the magazine A Perfect Guide today. This is the perfect dress for summer. But since it’s not really summertime now I haven’t bee wearing it as I’ve done with other pieces. This is the kind of dress that always works. And I cant wait to actually use it. It’s super cute and timeless. I want vacation NOW so I can wear it. You’ll find it here.

DID ZARA MADE a copy, or got inspired, by my dress I designed for GUESS by Marciano..? I’m NOT saying that this is the case, but I HOPE this is the case. That might be weird, but I think that would be SO COOL! Let’s pretend that’s the case! Wohoo!

only boring people are bored

The first person to ever collaborate with GUESS BY MARCIANO, Swedish golden girl and blogging sensation ELIN KLING proudly announces the launch of her debut capsule collection, Elin Kling for Marciano. Filmaker Joe Cohen was in New York for the launch, camera in hand…

What was the last song you listened to on your iPod?

Needy Girl by Chromeo. This song from my very mixed Spotify playlist became my get-some-energy-and-get-ready-for-dinner-song during Paris fashion week.

What was the last text message you sent?

I reminded my boyfriend to tell me that he loves me! He always needs to text me before I fly. I’m about to board a flight from Paris to New York as we speak.
What are the essential items in your make-up bag?

I love creamy make-up. I think everything is about glow. I don’t get these matte products. Cream foundation, cream blush, cream eye shadow.
What will you never leave the house without?

This might be the most boring answer in i-D history, but my iPhone. I don’t like to talk though. Just email and text, I’m addicted to email.
What advice would you pass on to aspiring fashion bloggers?

Enjoy yourself, but also think for longer than a picture outside a show. Use the power of your traffic.

Today I’m going to check out the newsstands for some more interviews I’ve done that just came out, like this one in i-D magazine! Here is a part of it that I found online, you can also check out a video they made exclusive with me here
