Maison Martin Margiela for H&M
Elin Kling for H&M – the launch
THIS WILL PROBABLY be the last post about my collection for H&M. Some of you have already seen it, some of you heard about it for the first time here. I LOVE to go through my folder, named H&M – the story, and go over the pictures again and again. Here you see some of the pictures from the actually launch. Outside one store in Stockholm, another one in Gothenburg, when a girl from the staff needed to hold on the the last cluch on the since they all got sold out. The window ( I was about to die when I saw the first time), from hours before when the collection were still in the stockroom and me and one of my readers. Thank you H&M for making this happen!!! End of story xo

H&M the story – PREMIÈRE
A FEW DAYS after the release it was time for me to wear my designs for the first time. The ELLE-awards came up and we thought it was a perfect moment. Me and Margareta Van Den Bosh (head of design at H&M) did enter the red carpet together. Everyone I talked to, told me to wear the printed dress on the red carpet, but I don’t know, I just thought that was so expected for me to show up in. I decided to wear this white look that I really loved, and which I thought felt more modern and very me. I was nervous, trust me… To get judged for the first time. I didn’t know what people would say, if they would say anything at all? Later on that night I changed into my printed dress. That’s not something that normally happens on Swedish events. But hey, for me it was the perfect moment to do as much PR for my collection as possible. Margareta wore Lanvin for H&M, from the men’s collection, I wish I bought some stuff from that collection too, she looks super cool! I had a VERY good night, that after-party was more than fun!
H&M the story, part 3 – The release
MY ALARM WAKES me up at 07.45. I’m waiting by my computer. I know that H&M will send out the press-release about our collaboration at 08.00. I’m happy with the collection, but still a bit insecure.. And I’m very curious about what the industry will think. If they will judge me or not.. I jump into the shower, to nervous to stand by the computer and wait. When I get out from the shower, 08.05, I have my first text message, it’s from a old friend “Congratulations Elin, this is big!!” . Luckily I didn’t have anything to be nervous about. The reviews I get are amazing, I can’t believe it, not H&M either :) . Financial times writes about it, New York Magazine, ELLE, Vogue. I’m totally overwhelmed. Me and my ex are celebrating with a loooooong dinner! And for once I feel that I have the right to be a bit proud.
Hilary Alexander at the Telegraph listing my collection as one of the best in the H&M history (!?)
Elin Kling for H&M part 2
OKEY, ARE YOU READY for another round? Here is the story from when I as the first blogger in the world did my own collection for H&M, part two!
The presentation – Time for the next presentation, this time for the photographer Peter Gehrke. I was surprised when I got to the H&M office that morning since I didn’t expect 10 people to sit there. My nerves was pretty thrilled since I didn’t know what Peter actually wanted me to talk about, other than show, for the first time ever, my collection (!). I was super-nervous and I’m sure I got red spots on my neck, as always do when I get nervous (I always starts to scratch my neck for some reason!). Anyways, it went well. And we decided a date for the shoot. Tuesday the week after. And no one was happier then me since Tuesdays are my favorite day!
Tuesday – I wake up early, really early. I got in to a cab that was waiting outside my apartment. I was wearing my lovely Reebook high top sneakers (I miss them!). I finally arrived after 20 minutes. The amazing team from H&M PR were there too. I got my hair done first, right away. They kept talking about making it shorter, and I totally agreed. Erika, the hairstylist also made a braid, to make it look thinner. I guess I’m pretty lucky to have to make it thinner instead of adding extensions. After we did my hair, we did my make up and I ended up super happy with the result.
We were going to take a total of four pictures. I chose my four favorite looks. The all-white look, my silver suit, the dress and my leather jacket. The team agreed with me, thank God.
Peter, the photographer was trying to make me understand what he wanted me to do, and how to do that… I’m lucky I can always say I’m not a model so that people can’t expect me to do more than my best… hehe.
I was pretty quiet during the day, I just did everything I was told to do. I knew I was working with professionals and I trust them and their work. We were done around 7 pm, and I was super happy with the results! And I was so happy that it was finally “over” Not over… I would do it over and over again, but to the fact that I can now look at the finished collection, feel proud of it and be happy with how the pictures turned out. You know, the pictures are always MORE than important.

weekend
Now – spa-time! Thank you so much for this week, this week that I probably never will forget, even if my memory is scary bad sometimes..
